Now, I'm no Bible scholar, but when I was thinking about all my reading of the Bible, I don't think I ever saw that as a "promise" in the Bible.
I did a little research with an online concordance, checked a few of the "standard" versions of the Bible and didn't find that wording anywhere.
So, that brought up the next question. If one is a Christian (which I am) what is my ultimate destination?
Some verses in the Bible started to give me clues:
Eph 1:10 "...to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head..."
Col. 1:20 "and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood"
Col. 1:20 "and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood"
Why do heavenly and earthly things need to be reconciled?
Also, throughout the New Testament we are told that we are inheritors - the meek will inherit the earth, we are "heirs" (implying that we inherit something), etc. If all that happens is that we go to heaven, then why the need to inherit anything?
Isaiah 65 talks about the new heavens and the earth. It says in verses 21 and 22:
They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands.
There certainly is a lot to indicate that there indeed may be a life on a new earth for the believer.
