Cry Out!

A friend posted this on another forum:

Ezekiel 9:4
and the LORD said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it.” (NKJV)

I got to thinking how I have not been sighing and crying over the wicked things done in my city or county or state or country.

It's time for me to have an attitude adjustment. Rather than letting my heart turn cold. I admit that the flood of bad news gets overwhelming at times. The horrible things that people are doing to one another hurts, tires me out, and causes me to throw up my hands and say "what can possibly be done?!"

But even Jesus knew this was going to happen when he said in Matthew 24:12, 13 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

I pray now and cry out for the horrible things that are going on. Rather than saying "I could care less," I do care, and will care. I will cry out to the Lord for the rapes, the cheating spouses, child and spousal abuse, murders, those that willfully hurt others, etc. My prayer now is, Lord do not let my love grow cold even though I live in terrible times.

  1. This is a powerful challenge to me. I need to be more aware and more compassionate toward the lost and the needy. It is so easy to get self-centered and only think of my own problems. I need my heart to open up to others and not be so calloused.

    Thanks for this article.

  2. I totally agree with you, but hold fast to the Cross in the midst of your crying out! As we cry out, we're not to enter into the hopelessness and disillusionment that those travesties bring. We cry out as lights in the darkness! We cry out as overcomers in a world overcome with evil. We cry out as those united with Christ, with direct access to the God who can change everything in an instant and uses His people to do so!
